The Croix des Gardes

escape in the heart of Cannes

Less than a kilometre as the crow flies from the mythical Croisette, lies the Croix des Gardes park. A real bubble of nature, it is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, go for a walk and do some sport. Let’s go and discover the natural treasures of Cannes’ green lung.

Croix des Gardes

A unique green setting

A preserved nature

Dominating the centre of Cannes, the Croix des Gardes hill watches over the town. Classified as a sensitive natural area, this park is a precious reserve for the fauna and flora of Provence. An inescapable natural heritage that we can’t wait to explore.

The scent of the local flora

As soon as you enter the park, you are charmed by the typical vegetation. Umbrella pine forests, maquis of various varieties, mimosas… These 80 hectares of forest are a treat for our eyes and our sense of smell.

Along the botanical paths, you will discover the arboretum which contains more than 40 varieties of mimosa. It is one of the most beautiful mimosa forests on the Côte d’Azur and a real delight for the senses!

Incredible views

Among the many assets of the Croix des Gardes park, there are its viewpoints. As you get higher, you gradually discover the magnificent landscapes of the bay of Cannes, the Lérins islands, but also the surrounding mountains such as the Estérel massif and the Pre-Alps. This 360° panoramic view around Cannes is a unique experience that deserves a good pair of binoculars. Make a note of it for next time!

A privileged place for activities

A peaceful walk

The Croix des Gardes park offers a wide range of possibilities for a breath of fresh air and relaxation.

As you walk along its 20 km of paths, the landscapes and viewpoints follow one another in a calm and restful atmosphere. From the Maquis, Roquebillière, Croix, Cèdre and Brougham lookouts, there is no shortage of moments of contemplation.

The pleasure of taking time, of enjoying every moment.

This bucolic setting would not be complete without mentioning the local wildlife. You can enjoy the gentle song of the birds and be touched by the family of donkeys that live here and tend the grounds. At the top of the park, we are surprised to meet the horses of the Buhler villa, the park’s equestrian police station.

An ideal place to exercise

If the Croix des Gardes park is suitable for relaxing walks, it is also ideal for sports training. With its uneven terrain, its 3.1 km of marked out health trail and its apparatus, it is suitable for all sportsmen and women, whether beginners or experienced. A facility and a place in the image of Cannes, capital of outdoor sports.
