Since the birth of their company L-E-V- in 2013, Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal and her musician and video artist partner Gai Behar have been electrifying contemporary dance. Since the birth of their company L-E-V- in 2013, Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal and her musician and video artist partner Gai Behar have been electrifying contemporary dance. Each of their productions has the unique gift of offering a combination of images and emotions combining the power of dance, the geometric precision of the bodies and the liberating grain of madness inherited from the underground culture of clubs and the night. In these moving tableaux, the lights, the set design and the music play a key role. The two artists entrusted the score of Into The Hairy to composer Lewis Robert, alias Koreless, whose album Agor revolutionised the electro scene in 2021. Described as a "prodigy of minimalist music", the multi-inspired Briton offers an imaginative sound experience, like a journey to be shared. L-E-V's new piece also brings together the stylist Maria Grazia Chiuri, director of Christian Dior Couture, and the light designer Alon Cohen, long-time partners of the company. It is carried by seven performers experienced in all styles, essential artisans of the "magic" claimed by Sharon Eyal in all her stage productions.
Sharon Eyal
After dancing for Ohad Naharin's Batsheva Dance Company between 1990 and 2008, Sharon Eyal was its deputy artistic director and then associate choreographer from 2005 to 2012. She founded the L-E-V Dance Company in Tel Aviv with multidisciplinary artist Gai Behar and has since created numerous works for the Nederlands Dans Theater, the Royal Swedish Ballet, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and the Paris Opera Ballet (Faunes in 2021). In 2017, she was awarded the Fedora Van Cleef & Arpels prize for ballet.
