Matt Donovan is a shadow of his former self: disillusioned, tired of the compromises he made during his successful career, he feeds his bitterness with alcohol, tired of everything and especially of living. Lurking in his flat, he has cut himself off from everyone except his brother, who tries to look after him, and Tyler, a former marine who earns his living by dressing up as a cartoon character!

When a young waitress, Sara, approaches him, "the best teacher" in New York, to help him prepare for his audition for Romeo & Juliet, he initially refuses. The author, who wrote the moving Sunderland, creates a magnificent ode to the theatre, notably by revealing the apprenticeship of the acting profession. The skilfully paced staging and aesthetic set design serve a text full of subtlety and self-mockery, which the rather eloquent actors bring to light with delicious comic verve and dazzling humanity. It is tender, funny and moving. A contemporary theatrical comedy that reminds us how essential this art is.
