Serigne Ibrahima Dieye is part of the young generation of painters from the National School of Arts in Dakar. The characters in his paintings and installations are visual allegories of the ills that tear apart contemporary societies: its myths of success and its curses; its violence and its creative vivacity; its popular stories and its forgotten territories. He observes his environment and is interested in the chaos that surrounds him. Thus, from his works emerge mysterious signs and hybrid animals that meet, like fables, his daily urban life. Through a strong plastic gesture, the artist intends to denounce this systemic violence while trying to make each of us think about our share of responsibility and the role we can choose to take - or not - in this world.
