    LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
    Symphony No. 8 in F major, op. 93 (1812)

If the famous "Overture" to Coriolan is notable for its dark and heroic atmosphere, Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 is among the musician's most radiant and serene works. Composed immediately after the vast Seventh, it is distinguished by its humorous and loving flights of fancy.
Composer, performer (notably of Beethoven, whose complete Sonatas he has recorded) and great humanist, Michaël Levinas sees writing as a spiritual act. His Cello Concerto, presented by one of the greatest French cellists, Henri Demarquette, is the first commission of the Creative Consortium, a unique grouping of five French orchestras in favour of contemporary creation.

    Benjamin Levy - Conductor
    Henri Demarquette - Cello
